Let's hang
Hi there,
Spring is in the air and I always find the warmer weather energising. Time to tackle the jobs left hanging from winter, like cleaning out the wardrobe. This month’s topic is hangers...

Gone for Good
Wire hangers are a wardrobe organisers adversary, leaving horrible little bumps on the shoulders of clothes and get as tangled as burrs in pet fur
Support your local businesses. Take them to a dry cleaner or ironing service. Alternatively, dramatic societies and school drama departments often need hangers for costumes. But if you have to hang on, try reincarnating them....

Reincarnated
We’ve all heard of using old wire hangers to break into the car or make a temporary TV antenna but they can also be used to
• Remove static from your skirt or pants: just run one over the fabric surface.
• Make a toasting fork and toast marshmallows or bread over an open fire.
• Make bubble wands: With a reshaped wire hanger and liquid detergent mixed with water, an hour of fun can be had without spending a cent.

Buying Better
When buying hangers it’s all about function. Here are two that are terrific:
The Hickson Hanger
I am not usually a fan of hangers designed for multiple garments but this one is an exception. The Hickson Hanger is ideal for small items that otherwise get lost at the back of the drawer. Designed so that one garment can be removed without disturbing the others, it’s fantastic for singlet tops, bras, briefs and swimsuits. Nicely finished in enamel and reasonably priced. Flocked Hangers
For those wrap dresses made of silky fabric that always end up on the wardrobe floor, my favourite is this flocked hanger...nothing slips off it! Available from Howards Storage World www.hsw.com.au

A Final Word
Who thought wire coat hangers were ugly? Me....but these wire coat hanger sculptures by British artist David Mach show the transformative power of art.

Until next time, may you all be organised in your own fashion
